Forbes recently did a great article on the 25 cheapest cities to live in the United States.  The report was based on the cost of Transportation, housing, health care, grocery and other costs.  Of the 25 cities, Texas is home to 7 of them.  Makes you proud as a Texan.  Here are the 7 and examples of cost in their area:

#1 Harlingen- Is #1 for the Cheapest place to live in the US.

  #4 Mcallen- Is #4 on the list.

#6 Commerce and Hunt County-  #6 on the list.  Part of the Dallas – Forth Worth Area

#7 Brownsville- is #7 on the list

#11 Sherman Denison- #11 on the List.  Home of Lake Texoma, one of the largest man made Lakes.

It was great to see that Texas had 7 of the 25 cheapest cities to live in.
