Yesterday, the Senate approved the extension of the tax credit.  The new date that it must close by is Sept 30^th.  This extension is only for buyers who were already under contract by APRIL 30^th.  So no new buyers can qualify for this tax credit.  The House of Representatives had already approved this extension.  But the two approvals differ so both the House and Senate are working to make sure they match up.  This should be handled very soon since the old deadline is coming up.  This extension is to help those buyers who are currently in underwriting or for some reason have not closed already.
