As a Firefighter there are programs for you for when you purchase a home.  Here are the two major ones that I deal with: 

1.      Good Neighbor Next Door Program- Obviously any neighborhood feels safe when there is a Firefighter living there.  HUD has figured this out and offers the Good Neighbor Next Door  Program.  It offers certain HUD foreclosures for 50% of their sales price.  The 50% comes in the form of a 2^nd mortgage that is forgiven after 3yrs.  So you only have to pay the first mortgage of 50% of your homes sales price.  To find out which homes qualify for this program, ask your Realtor Today. 

2.      MCC Tax Credit- This is a Great Tax Credit Program for home buyers that will give you a Tax credit of up to $2000 for every year you are in the home.  This will increase your Tax Refund by the $2000 every year.  Which is an awesome savings.  There are income limits based on county and the state program charges 1% of the loan amount at closing.  But the savings way out weigh the costs.  This program is done in conjunction with your mortgage and I provide the service of doing the MCC tax credit paperwork for free to my clients. 

These are two major programs that benefits Firefighters when purchasing a home.  Law Enforcement Officers, Teachers or an Emergency Medical Technicians(EMT) also qualify for these programs.  Call me today with any questions.
