Forbes.com recently did an article on which major cities had the lowest mortgage rates and the lowest mortgage delinquencies.  Well, HOUSTON came in #2.  Their research was done from Jan 2008 thru Jan 2009.   Since Houston's housing market was not hit as hard as some, this kept many home owners from going delinquent on their mortgage.  The idea is that if you are underwater on your mortgage, you are most likely to walk away from the home.  This great article also implies that banks will be more open to lending in areas with lower delinquency.  As an example mortgages rates are higher in California then Texas.  This is another great reason to buy a home in the Houston.  For more on this article: http://www.forbes.com/2010/03/22/best-cities-borrowers-lifestyle-real-estate-home-loans.html
