My New Blog

Whether you want to focus on your SEO (search Engine Optimization) or your Internet Presence, it is all the same.  The Goal is to get found on the Internet and get found a lot.  I by no means think of myself as a SEO expert, even thou I am on the first page of Google for over 20 different mortgage topics and teach a MCE class on this topic.  Infact I believe the opposite, I am a student of SEO.  And if you don't look at yourself as a student, you will get passed over by those that keep learning.  The goal with Social Marketing is to be found on the internet.  Even better, would be to have new clients find us on the internet.  Here are my 6 tips to being successful at getting found on the internet. 

1. BUTTONS- We are all on Facebook, twitter, linkedin and maybe more sites.  Buttons make it the easiest and most direct way to get found on these sites.  Yes, the client could go and look you up on facebook but why not make it easier for them and point them to it.  That is what buttons are for.  Here is a great Video on how to do a "Google Me" button.  Here is a blog on how to do buttons
2. FREE PROFILES- Almost every website in the world offers a free account/profile.  This is the easiest way to get your info on the internet and get traffic.  Websites such as ActiveRain already get traffic so by having a profile you increase the chance of getting found.  I suggest getting a profile on any site that is Free such as Trulia.com, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Linkedin, Google Profile, etc. 
3. YOUR WEBSITE- Please I am begging you!!!!  Do your own website.  If you are using a free website that is provided by your real estate company, it could be hurting you.  Yes, its great to have a website but Google can tell that your "content" is the same as every other Real Estate Website by that company.  And the key is get your website to the top of Google's Searches.  The best way to do that is to have original content.  Have a Page on your site for Blogs/Blogging.  And do some custom Tabs on specific topics, school districts, subdivisions, mortgage programs, etc. 
4. BLOG!!- I can personally say that the #1 way that people find me and decide to use me for their mortgage is because of my blogs.  1. Blogs are the easiest and most effective way to get to the First page of Google.  2. Blogs give you the best way to convey that you are an expert on a topic and why someone should use you.  Don't believe me, Google some real estate topics in your area and see who comes up and what they wrote about.  Whether or not you agree, they are the expert on those topics. 
5. DON'T STOP- We are all creatures of habit.  If we do not see an immediate reward, we tend to give up or possibly change our approach.  Don't give up, it may take some time to see a real response to your social marketing.  Stay consistent and it will payoff.  And most importantly, 99% of social marketing can or is free.  So look at as free advertising and stick with it. 
6. KISS- You know the saying Keep It Simple Stupid.  I love this saying, because ah its SIMPLE.  Your social marketing needs to be simple.  If its difficult you wont do it.  So stick to the things that are best for you and easiest for you to stick with.  You may love facebook, but hate twitter.  Great, then focus on facebook.  What ever you do make sure you like or love it.  I love blogging and cant imagine not doing it weekly. 

The key to improving your internet presence is being constant.    Stick with it and always try to improve it.  It may work best to make it part of your schedule, maybe blog a topic every Wednesday.  Or maybe do it as it fits in your schedule.  Keep in mind, no one is a SEO or Internet Presence expert, this is always new things to learn or improve on.   Good Lucking with your SEO'ing!!!!!
